Certiport has announced the outcome of a comprehensive worldwide research effort—including thought leaders from Adobe, the University of California-Berkeley, Certiport, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)—will form the foundation for a new certification program to assess and validate digital communications proficiencies. Scheduled for release by the end of 2006, the digital communications certification program produced and distributed worldwide by Certiport will build competencies enabling students and teachers to effectively define, access, manage, integrate, evaluate, create and communicate information using technology.
The new Digital Communications Standard will be a complementary qualification to the existing IC3 (Internet & Computing Core Certification) certification, with the outcome being a complete ICT qualification - incorporating digital literacy (IC3) + digital communications.
"The digital communications standards and certification program will allow individuals to learn and adopt additional skills demanded by ever-evolving computer and communications technologies. The program will also enable the critical inclusion and integration of these technologies into updated courses across the academic curriculum," said David Saedi, president and CEO of Certiport. "Together with Certiport Internet & Computing Core Certification or IC³®, the digital communications credential will represent the most complete ICT standard available for adoption worldwide."
