Prodigy is delighted to welcome Bally Clare High School, Ballyclare, Co. Antrim as a Microsoft IT Academy Member. Ballyclare High School are a great example on how IT can be integrated into Schools and colleges.
To Add to their status as an IT Academy member, Ballyclare High School have also recently became the first School in Northern Ireland to receive the prestigious ICT Mark.
The award was only introduced in Northern Ireland three weeks ago by the Department of Education in partnership with the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta), the agency responsible for the delivery of the Government's technology strategy for schools and the learning and skills sector.
The external assessor, Mr Eamonn Horton, commented upon the excellent leadership structures for ICT within Ballyclare High, the exemplary work the school was undertaking in extending its ICT expertise and facilities to the broader community as well as the sound vision for ICT which is pedagogically-driven.
Ballyclare High’s Specialist School Manager James Maxwell commented: “The achievement of the ICT Quality Mark highlights the leading role which Ballyclare High is playing in demonstrating the powerful potential of ICT in education. It also consolidates the school’s strong vision and direction for ICT development."
As with the achievement of the ICT Mark, James Maxwell was eager to incorporate the Microsoft IT Academy membership into the role ICT plays in education.
Speaking on their membership Craig Bewley the CEO of Prodigy said "Prodigy is looking forward to building on the relationship with Ballyclare High School and aiding the IC3 certification of many of their students in the future. Ballyclare are a great example on how to embrace Internt and Communications technology"
