Showing the England football team just how it should be done, two stars of the future have come up trumps at the European Finals in Microsoft Office in Madrid.
Samantha Wills and Nathaniel Fox from Hayle Community School both scored maximum points in their individual competitions in Microsoft Word and Excel. To win each student had to compete against peers from across Europe and achieve the best score in Microsoft’s Office Specialist exams.
Up next for this talented pair is the World Final in Salt Lake City, UTAH in August where they will compete against some tough opposition from Asia in particular.
More than 100,000 students from over 70 different countries across the world compete in the annual Microsoft Office competition which is open to schools who offer their students the opportunity to study for the Microsoft Certifications in Word and Excel.
“I am ecstatic about winning the competition” said Sam “I can’t wait to compete with the other countries in UTAH in a few weeks time. It’s going to be tough but I’ll give it my best shot”.
“The European Competition itself was a great experience.” added Nathaniel ”I am now looking forward to competing with different people, from across the world”.
Headteacher Chris Jackman is also delighted by the achievements of her students. “The school is very proud of our young people’s achievements. It is absolutely fantastic for Nathanial and Sam, I am delighted for them both.”
Kevin Ryan, Marketing Manager with Prodigy Learning, who manage the competition in the UK, said “One of them winning was exceptional but both winners is outstanding. One country coming back from Madrid with both gold medals simply wasn’t expected”.
You can track Nathaniel and Sam’s progress on the Microsoft IT Academy Facebook page throughout the Summer, and even make a post if you want to wish them well over the coming weeks.
